ON DISPLAY AT THE BATTLEBOTS TAPING [APR 19]

For my first gig as BattleBots judge, the event was held only 30 minutes from my home. I asked BattleBots if I could bring anything to help out. "Nuts & Dr. Inferno!" "You got it!"

On the left of the store was Dr. Inferno ]|[ (with Dr. Inferno Jr.'s nuts...close enough...), & Tombstone was on the other side, atop old BattleBots floor modules

These floor sections have seen some action in the past

One 9V battery powered the eye LEDs all week--super efficient!

Fans young & old were excited to have a chance to see & pick up the giant nuts in person. Lots of big smiles

Photo ops...and buy some merch while you're over here!

Sitting politely in the corner until things were all set up

My car trunk on the way to the event: Dr. Inferno ]|[, nuts, RC trucks, Viper antweight bots, tools, snacks, & beverages :]

My car's back seat on the way back--I think the trunk was somehow too full to fit bot stuff on the way back

PLAYING DRESS-UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS [OCT 18 - PRESENT]

Halloween 2018: jack-o-lanterns & bot-o-lanterns on display

Halloween 2018: At night, I hid in the minivan, peeked out the tinted windows, & scared trick-or-treaters by activating the bots when the kids were close

Halloween 2019: same as last year, but with a new bot (a D2 kit on its way to becoming Dr. Inferno IV)

Halloween 2019:I also made the sign a little more legible, & I parked the minivan backwards to give us a better view of the bots

Halloween 2019: a bunch of battery-operated LED tea lights in the buckets made them flicker eerily

Halloween 2020: candy delivery bots

Halloween 2020: For social distancing, we taped off the driveway & set up plastic pumpkins as a barrier, then we drove the candy out when somebody approached

Halloween 2020: I recorded video from a shoulder-mounted camera, but it was too dark to get good footage--next time, I'll turn on the camera light!

Christmas 2020: dozens of battery-operated blinky LED lights on a vintage 1960s aluminum tree--disco X-Mas!

Halloween 2021: Dr. Inferno IV is added to the lineup for trick-or-treaters & for a Trunk-or-Treat event at the local school

BATTLEBOTS/COMBAT ROBOTS GET-TOGETHER AT JERRY'S WOOD-FIRED DOGS [OCT 18]

Our dear friend, Andrew Botter, the nicest human robot encyclopedia you could ever meet, once bought a hot dog restaurant with his dad

He invited lots of SoCal teams to bring their bots, talk shop, & entertain the patrons

Dr. Inferno ]|[, The Disk O' Inferno, giant nuts, antweights--the works!

What a crew, including teams responsible for Particle Accelerator, Double Jeopardy, Deep Six, Gigabyte, Malice, VDD, Mechachu, & more!

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH [SEP 17 - PRESENT] - (SEE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH GALLERY)

2017: I gave a demo of Dr. Inferno ]|[ at our local preschool. Kids are safe on the grass--little bots get stuck on grass! This is why I made a separate power switch for the weapons! :]

2017: Dr. Inferno ]|[ also made an appearance at my son's other preschool, cruising around the campus.

2017: "Raise your hand if you're a robot."
"Robots on the concrete, non-robots on the grass!"

2018: Dr. Inferno ]|[ & other current/recent bots were part of a kindergarten display

2019: Cub Scouts are a great audience--excited, enthusiastic, & well-mannered. Dr. Inferno ]|[ was part of the enertainment.

2019: Dr. Inferno ]|[, some antweights, & Drawbots on display at a nursery school

2019: During snack break, I drove around the playground.

2019: Bots & nuts on display for the afternoon at an elementary school event

2019: He likes to be scratched behind the ears--note the pointy spike wedgelets swapped out for blunt round fork tips for demos. Toes are safe!

2019: Cardboard boxes didn't stand a chance

2019: Instead of playing Where's Waldo?, play Where's Ref John?

GOENGINEER'S "SHAPE YOUR WORLD 2017" EVENT [MAY 17]

Presentation for GoEngineer's kick-off event in Anaheim, which was followed by a Virtual Jason tour of many other US venues

The Highway 39 Event Center is full of gorgeous vintage cars

The Dr. guarded my business cards

Towering Inferno & The Disk O' Inferno came out to play, too

SOLIDWORKS WORLD 2017 SHOWCASES BATTLEBOTS [FEB 17]

SolidWorks CAD software has been used by many teams to design their bots (including The Infernolab!)

SolidWorks & GoEngineer have sponsored & supported many teams

Engineers love BattleBots, so they featured many bots in the SolidWorks World 2017 conference's Partner Pavilion showcase area

We brought Dr. Inferno ]|[, Towering Inferno, & giant nuts

Also present were many smaller bots from school leagues

In NRL's 15lb bot arena, a mini tournament was run in front of a huge live audience--it was a smash!

To my delight, when I attended again in 2018 & picked up the program guide...

...there was Dr. Inferno ]|[ right there in the agenda!!!

TRANSPLANT OF DR. INFERNO JR.'S TORSO ONTO BASE [MAR 16]

Hanging out, rather naked, at an NTMA NRL event.

Craiglist score: Radio Shack Robie Jr. (bundled with other items: resold the vintage Space: 1999 Eagle model & gave away the other plastic bot toy to a fan)

There are usually multiple projects going in parallel on the Infernolab workbench: Dr. Inferno ]|[ guards my "I'm a Mac" costume's light-up Mac Plus helmet

9V battery should keep the eyes on for quite a while. Much brighter than the originals LEDs, these make the eyes a rather lovely shade of hot pink!

GRAB PLATFORM BUILT [MAR 15]

Frame kit panels anodized, ready for assembly

First assembly of the Generic Robot Action Base (GRAB), front view

First assembly of the Generic Robot Action Base (GRAB), rear view

RRevo kit done, with my extra touch of flair: Inferno red anodizing

Lots of room in the front for more motors, batteries, a weapon, or...
