BEHIND THE SCENES VIDEOS FROM SEASON 5.0 [SEP 02]

|
 |
BattleBots
had a production company, DV
Garage, doing some behind-the-scenes videos at the taping
of season 5.0 in May 2002. Episode 4 deals with the graphics and
presentation of bots. I discuss how Dr.
Inferno Jr. got his name, and there's a quick clip of Towering
Inferno getting clobbered by Ripkin. Episode 8 discusses
my fashion sense and how it fits in with my bots' themes, as well
as more Towering Inferno prelim fight footage.

SAME-O
INFERNO
VS. TSUNAMI
@ SOZBOTS/STEEL CONFLICT [AUG 02]

|
 |
On August 24-25, Sozbots
had its 3rd tournament at Steel
Conflict. I entered Lame-O
& Same-O Inferno. The absolute most fun & craziest
fight of the event came when Same-O fought my buddy Pete Abrahamson's
Tsunami.
It was great--he kept tearing me apart but I kept coming back
to push & shove him more. The crowd went nuts! Tsunami won
by a decision so tough to call that the judges were complaining!
Pete was so excited that he rushed home & edited together
this great video right away.

ABC
WORLD NEWS NOW [JUL 01]

|
 |
On July 18, ABC World News Now brought Greg & Trey of BattleBots,
plus Christian of Coolrobots
into the studio. In addition to some interviews and a demo fight
between the real Toe Crusher & toy versions of Biohazard &
Diesector, there were some Comedy Central clips, including Dr.
Inferno Jr.'s victory over Toe Crusher. Make note of the
giant Dr. on the projection screen behind everybody!

On July 17, the Today

TOWERING
INFERNO LEGO PROTOTYPE [FEB 01]

|
 |
Towering Inferno has such
a weird drivetrain that I needed to make a motorized
LEGO model to see how it would handle. On this small scale,
it's really fast & twitchy (and the power cords get tangled
really quickly), but it works as planned. The 210 lb version should
be much more controllable. (Crank the volume on the 1st 3 &
you might even hear the hammers pounding.)

PLAY-BY-PLAY
COMMENTARIES AT BATTLEBOTS 2000 VEGAS [JAN 01]

|
 |
Comedy
Central's BattleBots website features lots of videos of
what goes on in the pits at BattleBots
events. One of the camera crews got my pit crew lad Mike & me
to do play-by-play commentaries of the fights as we watched them
on closed-circuit TV. One of the fights for which we gave color
commentary was Toro vs. Tripulta Raptor. Another was Mike going
solo on the Diesector vs. Rammstein battle.
Think
we should replace Bil Dwyer & Sean Salisbury?

THE
TONIGHT SHOW [NOV 00]

|
 |
Jay Leno entered a BattleBot, Chin-Killa, in the November 2000 BattleBots.
In a nice long segment on the tonight show on 11.21.2000, he interviewed
builders & fans & did his whole Leno thing. Guess they must've
been filming during one of Dr.
Inferno Jr.'s fights, for they got about half a second of
footage of me twiddling my radio controller feverishly, with somebody's
huge hand in the foreground. The creative editors managed to splice
in the wrong robots, though. Here's a short snippet of the video.

LEGO
STOP-MOTION MINISTRY MUSIC VIDEO
[DEC 92]

|
 |
I got my 1st camcorder for XMas 1992. It was over that same boring
XMas break that I re-discovered my stash of LEGO
in my parents' basement. I quickly put together a big robot dragon,
then I discovered that I had all I needed to make a crude stop-motion
video. 2 weeks later and some audio dubbing help from my brother,
& this is what I got. Music © Sire Records Company.
